a day of temples

today we made our second attempt to get to the temple for mediation lessons. yes i said attempt because by the time we got there it was already 1:30pm and once we made the journey to the temple we couldn't find out where the lessons we being held. the temples were beautiful so we spent the day just walking around watching the various people prayer. it was so quiet there and the energy was unbelievable. i took lots of pictures so i'll try to upload them this week sometime. it was great just walking around there. i thought of kate w. the whole time. she would love it there. i stumbled upon the monks sleeping quarters so of course i took a photo. there's also a national park there with trails. we didn't do since we were tired and plus i was wearing the big shoes and didn't feel like hiking in them. i think we'll go back and do that another day. there were some old women filling up water bottles from the spring water. it was so cool watching them sit on the rocks chatting. it was such an amazing place. the temples themselves were beautiful. some had these really cool paintings of budah and other stuff. there was even a giant gong tower. i watched the monks walk around and even watching people praying was cool. their movements were so beautiful and mesmorizing. i think i watch this one lady for 20 minutes. lost in my own thoughts. it was such a great day out too. afterwards we had lunch in the city. i went with the breaded pork cutlet, rice sushi, dumblings, and soup. so good. for dinner i went to a tai place in itaewon. that was good too. i also went to a bar there. it was so weird to be in korea yet everyone in the bar was a western and they were playing 80s music. its times like that where i hate living in the burbs so far from everything but at least this way i'll be saving money. thats what i keep telling myself anyway. tomorrow i have to meet christine and jane at some subway station to go halloween shopping. they're going crazy with this party planning stuff. all right i'm signing out now. hope everyone is doing well. until next time…
