you're the one that i want

the days seem to grow bleaker and bleaker as i send out endless resumes and get no responses. several questions fill my head. am i overqualified? am i lacking the necessary skills? is my phone number correct? job hunting sucks! this is the longest i've been without work and i'm starting to go a bit stir crazy. perhaps taking 3 years off and teaching abroad was not a wise choice. but if i hadn't left i most likely would still be debt. i guess it's better to be jobless right now than ridden with debt. i'm sitting here slowly watching my savings dwindle and wondering what's next.

on a happier note, the b-52's new album will be out on march 25. not sure what it is about this band but their music has a way of making me feel all happy and gooey inside. all i want to do is dance, dance, dance. i listened to a snippet of the new single funplex on itunes. happy, happy! can't wait for the album release. it's been awhile since i eagerly awaited the release of something new. love the album cover, too. they're looking all hip and fresh. photoshop works wonders.

ride it on

this morning it was once again gray and rainy. will it ever end? i awoke with this song playing in my head:

It's raining, it's pouring
my love life is boring me
to tears, after all these years

No sunshine, no
moonlight, no stardust, no
sign of romance
we don't stand a chance…

i love when random songs emerge out of nowhere. the name of the song escaped me, so i went to my friend google to find out. then it all came flooding back like a bad 80s flashback. i still find it amusing that these two artists actually did a song together. they seem like such an unlikely duo. anyway…so that was how i spent my morning.

feeling quite unmotivated to do anything i decided to watch elizabeth. i never had an interest in seeing it until i watched the tudors. if you haven't seen that series you should. i must say i was quite surprised by the film. i found it to be quite entertaining. and cate blanchett was very good in the role of elizabeth. what's next? well, i'm going to watch elizabeth: the golden years. it's wet out there, keep dry.

while going through boxes and boxes of my crap, i came upon some illustrations by my friend phil from when i was still living in o-town. the mini-comics were based on things we experienced: whether it was a night out at wally's, dancing at barbarella, our trip to disney, etc. there's also his interpretation of our group of friends as the star wars characters. of course i had to be c3po. still not sure how i feel about that one. looking at these drawings has brought back so many memories. it seems like a lifetime ago. since leaving florida, oh so many years ago, i've sort of lost touch with phil and for that matter many of the others featured in the pictures. although i have been reunited with kathy via facebook. it's funny because phil and i have a lot of friends in common and he's even married to one of my childhood friends. but somewhere down the line our friendship just sort of fizzled. i guess that happens in life. people come and go. they fill a need and then once fulfilled move on. and in return you make new friends. its circle of life. so where am i going with all this? not really sure. just rambling and giving a nod to those people that were once in my life and have now moved on. i also wanted to share some of the drawings with you.

most of my time has been spent getting the pad in order. i can honestly say i'm like 85% there. still need a few more pieces of furniture then i'll be set. it's a whole new experience living on my own in sf, and i must say i'm digging it. it seems like ages since i've last posted. sf christmas happened on the saturday i returned at the bears' den. we had cheese, crackers, manicotti, and lots of sweets. it was good times. i scored a rice cooker, a superhero tee, a print, etc. christmas in sf rocked! i spent a quiet new years at misty's eating dinner and playing games. i think i was back home by 12:15 am. last weekend we headed up to marin to help butterbean celebrate her birthday. it was a surprise party. everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. that was also the same weekend as the monster storms we had. i literally watched a metal sign blow out into the street. i've been on a few dates here and there. nothing to quite blog about yet but will if something heats up. last night we headed to the wildside west to help pevil celebrate her birthday. prior to that we had dinner at misty's. i woke up this morning with a hangover—but one not caused by alcohol. this was a chocolate cupcake hangover. i must have 15 mini cupcakes. they were so good. damn cupcakes. i've realized since returning to the u.s. i've been getter fatter and fatter. its time to start working out or at least some sort of exercise.
