calling korea

the big news for today is that i got a cell phone. YEAH!!! now you all will be able to contact me at anytime and vice versa. although not really sure how to use the thing. its all in korean. the 120 page manual that came with the phone had 4, yes i said 4, pages in english. unfortunately those 4 pages didn't really tell you much either. go figure. the phones here make noises for everything. if you open the phone it makes a news. you press a menu button it makes a noise. you close it it makes a noise. my first thing was to figure out how to turn those damn noises off. after several unsucessful attempts i finally figured it out. although if you asked me to do it again it would probably take me just as long. next step setting the ring. of course since we're in korea there is no such thing as a simple ring. every single ring is obnoxious. there's everything from a techno version of "halelluyah" to even more bad techno songs. it looks like i'll be keeping that baby on vibrate. actually i finally settle for the lesser annoying song. it so funny trying to save numbers etc. at least they do have english characters to enter peoples name. i'm just happy to have one. whether or not i'll ever figure out all the functions is another story. the koreans do everything on their phones from watching tv to banking. its crazy. anway so that my exciting cell phone story. before i forget here's my number 10-7744-0594. don't ask me what you have to do to actually call me. i just looked on www.countrycallingcodes.com and it said calling from united states to south korea you have to dial 011 + 82 + the number [10-7744-0594 you need to drop the first "zero". hopefully that will work for you. call me. and with any luck i'll actually be able to answer. how exciting. for those of you who don't know the time difference go to www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ its a great resource.

school was school today. nothing too exciting happened with the kids except that my 3 boys are out of control. each one has to be a class clown. not listening, running around, talking about snot. i recently learned the korean word for booger so now i know when they are saying it. they are so bad, but its actually my best class. they definitely keep things exciting.

tonight was tae kwon do. we have an new student heather in the class from canada. class went all right until the jump roping. it was kind of painful to jump up and down so i sat out on that. the rest of the excercising and kick practicing was good. i'm really enjoying. now i just want my knee to get better because i'm not going all out these days. it kind of hurts now as i'm typing. everyone send out good energy to rid me of this bothersome problem. i am going back for acupuncture tomorrow morning before school. lets hope that ends of working because i really don't want to quite. all right midnight is here i this one needs to go to bed. until next time…
