pink no more

well. i finally got just the dryer to work last night before i went to bed. this morning i put another load in to wash. i officially hate the washing machine. when i got home of course the clothes were still wet. after fighting with it for several minutes i got the dryer to work. when i got back dinner my clothes we dry but my pink shirt is now greyish lavendar shade. damn machine. i realize now that this is going to be an ongoing battle for an entire year. great.

kindergarten class went well. i realized today that the girls don't like story time. everytime i go to read they fake being asleep. i decided not to read and had them color instead. that we keep busy for a good 20 mins. or so. today i did high fives with them. they seem to like that. i worked on my superhero collage for the classroom today. i really need something on the walls. not sure if i mentioned this or not yet but all the classes are named after kid movies. i got stuck with the beauty and beast room. its a sort of pink color with windows that don't open. they also put this giant plant in my room with has a giant pink bow on it. not sure what's up with that. it looks like a badly decorated christmas tree. i asked if i could take the bow off. they said yes.

for lunch i had sweet potatoe noodles and rice. not the best thing i've had but it was all right. in my green a class with sally we were talking about sharing. she shared a sad story about a girl that was killed by her father. at least thats what i heard. supposedly her elementary school teacher read it to them. ok. sounds like a very interesting story to me. she brought in a lion hat today and i wore it for part of the class. she's a great student. very bright.

i'm making headway with the orange b crew. i got them laughing today. i told them that i now they can talk and i want to hear them. shaun wasn't paying attention so i make him read twice. he looked at me and said "read". and i told him yes. i'm making them write about what they did this weekend and on monday they have to read it to the class. its a slight progress but i'll take anything.

friday is casual day so i decided to bust out the giant shoes. it felt so great to me in my "normal clothes" no one even noticed them. i'm so excited. now every friday i can wear the giant shoes. yeah!

horace, sammy, and i went to the manhatten western bar for dinner. they bring over snacks that you get to choose. we had one thing that tasted like styrofoam carrots. not so good. there was also this cookie thing that have burnt sugar icing. so good. its my new favorite. we ordered pitchers of beers and some appetizers. one was noodles and snails. so good. i never knew snails were so tastey. the other was a platter of sausages. which means assorted hot dog type of things.

tomorrow night we are going to play cards with vickie. she a teacher too that horace met when he had to go to japan for his visa. it should be fun. thats about it for now. goodnight.
