tonight jk and jane took us all out to dinner. it was such a nice gesture especially after a long week. we went to the tofu house which was an old-style korean resturant. the meal started off with two different types of tofu. one was a blend of white and grey tofu and the the other was a warm pudding-like tofu. both were very good. next we had some pork that tasted like it was cooked in brown sugar. that was followed by various types of side dishes: sweet potato noodles in seasame sauce [my favorite], some kind of cole slaw, various types of kimchee, potato pancakes, and radishes. next came three different types of soup: one white tofu soup [bege], a redish kimchee tofu soup, and soy bean soup. all of which were very tastey. it was a very low key dinner. which means no alcohol which was actually nice. just good conversation. its moments like these that make being here a the more better. although at one point they were laughing at my stomach. yes i know i don't have 6 pack abs but do you have to rub it in. surprisingly enough it didn't really bother me. it was all in good fun. they were actually laughing at the fact that i looked completely full which i did. it was pretty great evening. i'm really lucky to have landed a job with such caring people.
on a different note i got business cards today. i'm still in shock that i actually have korean business. its pretty cool. one side english one side korean. unlike my previous job where we had to constanstly ask for cards they just made them for us. no fuse about money, no complaining about, they just did it. now thats the way a company should be. perhaps "they who i won't mention" should take a few pointers from them. now its time to retire to the old bedroom in the sky. this boy is tired.
