ya hala! on sunday i ventured out meeting up with some work peeps to attend ya hala: the 14th annual arab cultural festival. i had never been to an arab festival before so i figured what the hell i'm up for something new. the fact that it was being held at the county fair building in golden gate park which is close to my apartment was an added bonus. i had high hopes; however, i can't say that this was one of the better festivals that sf has to offer. besides being quite small [strike 1], they were charging a $6 admission fee [strike two]. i understand it was probably covering the cost to rent the space but there should never be an admission fee for a festival and if there is keep it to a dollar. spending anything more leads me to expect quite a bit. unfortunately, this was not the case since it was quite lacking with only a few booths. unless you were there to see the music/performances it was anything but stellar. there were only two food vendors [one of which only sold crepes] with the longest lines i've ever seen at a festival. i will say this about it, the falafel i had was pretty damn tasty. i was basically done with the festival 10 minutes after i arrived. since i didn't want to seem rude, i managed to hang out for a couple of hours hiding the anguish that was building up inside. until next time…
stay gold & be well…

Sometimes a good falafel is worth the anguish.
I think Socrates said that once.
