broken chairs

our final holiday groups from france & japan started this week. don't really foresee any problems with this group. there is one french student who keeps testing me, but i'm up for the challenge. the biggest problem is getting the two japanese students to speak up more. i think they are a bit shy amongst all the french students. hopefully, i'll have some interesting tales to tell as the weeks progress. keep your fingers crossed.

my weekend was pretty lackluster. i'm starting to think i've lost my mojo. has anyone seen it? i might have to spend some time trying to relocate it. i did manage to force myself out of the house thanks to misty's help. she called asking if i'd be her shopping guru. she needed to find a dress for an upcoming wedding she was attending. hi! i so in! i literally threw on some clothes, ran some product through my hair, and was ready to go in minutes. we were quite surprised to find downtown busy as hell at 11 am. don't people sleep in anymore? our first stop was the dreaded west field mall. malls always give me flashbacks to my youth in altamonte springs, since we always hung out there. the upper floors of the mall weren't too bad. we were able to weave in and out of stores with no problems. misty found her "perfect" dress within the confines of the mall. score!

it wasn't until we headed down to the food court that we realized just how many people were at the freakin mall. can you say, PACKED! maneuvering around the fc was like playing human frogger. step. stop. 2 steps, stop, etc. it was filled with the sound of chair legs being dragged across the floor. i watched one woman pass by the guy handing out free calamari 10 times. with each pass she took some samples. being down there made me want to scream. or in the very least wanting to push someone.

we made our exit from fc hell and headed out to the bustling streets of union square. our next mission: shoes. we stopped in h&m because i wanted to see if they had any jackets. the shopping gods must have been with me. i found an awesome short, black, trench coatesque jacket. and there was one left in my size. happy birthday to me! i also purchased a pair of jeans and some boxers. oops. now you all know the kind of undergarments i wear. hehe. after a brief stop in aldo where misty tried on some stripper shoes, we decided it was coffee time. yeah, iced coffee!

as the day went on, more and more people seemed to fill the streets. there were a few things left on misty's list to do, however, she decided to call it quits. we both had had enough of downtown on a saturday. while walking back to the car, i couldn't help but notice the long line for the trolley which made realize that i've never ridden it. i've been in sf for over 5 years and have yet to experience the joy of the trolley. will have to put that on my list of things to do.

today, i got a very unexpected call from pevil. her and mrs. b were in the hood and asked me to join them for lunch at the tofu house. how could i resist. there's nothing better than good company & good korean food. i had not seen them since pride, so it was great to play catch up. those girls are busy, busy, busy.

i borrowed a book from butterbean a few weeks ago called a gorgeous sense of hope: a love fable. i just finished it and i must say, "i l.o.v.e.d. it!" the message was quite inspiring and the illustrations are super cute. books like this make me happy. so on this note i'll end my post here. happy sunday to all! until next time.

stay gold & be well…
