essays

deery-lou.

its tuesday. however, i'm going to write about sunday because i can. don't hate. celebrate.

sunday
started off bright and early. i'm not sure i think the new early bird ethan. although i am managing to get a lot more done and my weekends feel longer. go figure. i started my day off with a hardy boys episode. it had everything one could hope for: witches, black cougars, a mute, and old man jenkins. oh wait, old man jenkins was on the nancy drew episode. anyway you get the point. that shaun cassidy, what a card. playing the goofy younger brother joe. i highly recommend viewing these. its pure 70s wholesomeness at its finiest.

to make my sunday morning even more fantastic i got an email from adawg setting up a phone date for 10am my time. YEAH!! how excited was i. after months and months of getting her answer machine i was finally going to be able to converse with her. i L.O.V.E my little boo/kiki/adwag. she's the best thing that came out of my 5 years at j.a.b. incorp. from the moment i heard her voice i broke out in a smile. she always makes me smile. we had a great talk, covering just about everything from love, sex, to midget mud wrestling. well, actually we didn't get to midget mud wrestling but its almost like we had. adawg has a way of breaking out into different characters when she tells a story. its the best thing ever. i could sit and listen to her for hours. and that just what i did. love ya boo. you're the best.

vickie called and asked if i wanted to go see some photo exhibit. what the hell. i decided to go. i can sit at home any time. plus vick only has a few more weeks until she leaves. i met her at exit 4, city hall stop at 2pm. the exhibit was at the press center. it was by photographer sebastiao salgado and it was titled essays. it spanned his work from early 80s to present. the images were black and white and covered areas all over the world. the exhibit was broken into four rooms, four themes: people, workers, immigrants, and famine. the photos were quite good. there was one in particular that stood out for me: it was from bejing. it was a good of people sitting in a bar next to a bicycle factory. i was hoping there would be a print available to purchase but no such luck. afterwards vickie and i went to insadong to get some lunch. before making our way to the restaurant we stopped at two different shops and bought crap. we both purchased a smurfette holding a frying pan with eggs in it and salt. she came with her own oven. hi oven. they love smurfs here and so do i. vickie took me to a very tiny italian restaurant down an alley. i had linguini with clams in a pesto sauce. who would have thought that it would be so good. IT WAS THE BEST THING EVER!!! those koreans sure can do italian. on my way home i stopped in baskin and robbins. it was all vickies fault. she got one earlier and now i felt the need to have one too. i went for a blue peach cooler, which is kind of like a milk shake. upon leaving the store i noticed that they had a banner in the window with drew barrymore's picture. appartently she's the new br spokesmodel or something. you go drew. i didn notice that they had sweet potato flavored ice cream. me thinks i'm going to have to try that next time. my blue peach was actually very yummy. as my students would say. that pretty much sums up my sunday.

monday and tuesday have been pretty uneventful. it rained on monday. today is was a lot cooler than usual. i walked home from school. it was pretty nice. i wanted to get more of a feel on my new neighborhood. actually i think i'm going to like it here. it seems to be a little more happening than "new ansan ghost town" ever was.

be well…

Speaking of the Hardy Boys, I now have Katie MacMillan in my friends list on Myspace. She now has one little boy and another baby due in Feb, says she's thinking of moving to Atlanta, and her husband is now the lead singer of some up-and-coming commercial-alternative band called Dark New Day (their video is playing on her Myspace profile).
