calling on mary

deery-lou.
previously on the e-list…

a lot of events were happening this past weekend. saturday night a group of us headed down to shine to catch d-moviestar in his big, french, short film debut, the gossamer seam. look out france, i think i've found your new star. the space was cool, the turnout good, and the film entertaining—what more could you want in a evening. on sunday misty and i went to bimbo's for aimee mann's 2nd annual christmas show. the last time i saw aimee mann, who was in til tuesday at the time, i was just a junior in high school. til tuesday along with crowded house played mtv's spring break concert at daytona beach. justine bateman was the celebrity host. my friends and i made the journey down from o-town. it was a great day filled with sunshine, music, friends, and beers. i even managed not to get sunburned. but enough about that. let's head back to the present. so i was quite excited to see aimee again after all these years. unfortunately, i wasn't quite prepared for the events that unfolded. once inside bimbo's we noticed that there were tables everywhere, even on the dance floor. the place was packed. we ended up being seated in the very back next to the bar. so much for standing. the annoying part of sitting at a show is the constant traffic of the staff waking by. i can't even recall the number of times i was bumped. i tried to put aside the anger i felt of being way in the back and the enjoy the show. which was fine until poodle head sat directly in front of me blocking what little view i had. i had to refrain from setting her hair ablaze. thankfully she left halfway through the show. as for the show itself, it was kind of like a variety show in the same vain as donny and marie or sony and cher. i wasn't quite expecting that either but i went with it. the comedian sucked. the film that was shown was quite funny and good. who knew that aimee has such a good sense of humor. the guest musicians were ok. nothing to write home about. as for aimee, well she sounded amazing. she delivered just like i knew she would. i was hoping she would have sung more non-christmas songs but it was a christmas show after all. i do look forward to checking out her non-christmas show the next time she's in town. until then…i'll see you around.

stay gold & be well…
