for most of my classes i have my students writing in journals. it usually consists of the same old thing: "i played computer game. i ate meat. etc." some of the students are really good at writing what happened, others not so much. but thats really besides the point. the whole idea behind the journals is to encourage them to write. and hopefully start being a bit creative with them. this week brent took a leap toward the creative direction and wrote a poem in his journal. i was so happy to see something different. although it was a bit difficult to understand, i encouraged him to continue to write poems. i also told him to write them in korean, too so that if i needed help in understanding what he meant i could ask one of the teachers. he actually seemed quite excited about that. i'm definitely looking forward to seeing what he comes up with. i wanted to share his poem with you so i copied it down exactly how it appeared in his journal…
