you know you're in california when you experience an earthquake. yes, last night around 8pm the whole apartment started shaking. granted, i've experience a few minor trembles in the past but nothing like this. it took me a few seconds to realize what was happening. once i did i jumped up, looked for the cats, and wondered where i should stand. all i could think was that i didn't want to go down with the apartment. in the kitchen i could hear the glasses shaking. luckily nothing fell. after it was over i replanted myself on the couch and the kitties were right there with me. welcome to california.

today is halloween. its great to be back where people really get into the holiday. a lot of the shops along clement street have halloween drawings by children. its so nice to see that. there a few houses here and there getting into the spirit as well. as for me—well i don't have any major plans for the holiday and thats fine with me. i might take a walk around the hood to see if any children are out trick or treating. i just hope they don't stop by the apartment since i don't have any candy to pass out. perhaps i should get some just in case.

i'm gonna leave you with this vintage halloween shot of me and kate. enjoy!

so the other day i received a message from "erika" on myspace. apparently she's a casting director for the tv show high school reunion. lake brantley high school's class of 88 [which just so happens to be my graduating class] is being considered for season 5 of hsr. love it! i've been helping "erika" out to rally support. enough people need to show interest inorder to be selected. i've made some phone calls, sent some emails, and made a few posts. what i'm finding out is that the class of 88 is made up of a bunch of pussies. no one seems at all that interested in doing the show. personally i think it would be a blast. i'm more than willing to make an ass of myself and some others on tv. i guess at this point it's out of my hands. all i can do is fill out the application and hope others do too.

the wedding weekend extravaganza officially started on thursday. we started off with a trip to selix to pick up the tuxedos. i managed to slip away afterwards and headed off to aldo to purchase some shoes for friday night. i sure do love shoes. by mid-afternoon we were making centerpieces. twenty in total. once they were completed, which actually took less time then we thought, it was off to the 540 club for some late afternoon cocktails. i took off with lj & scott to go to the san francisco museum of modern art to see the olafur eliasson exhibit. my favorite was the steel-and-ice-covered, hydrogen-fueled concept vehicle. thats because we got to wear blankets into a really, really cold room. hehe. while at the sf moma we ventured down to the third floor to see the joseph cornell exhibit, too. i really enjoy his collage work. back at misty's it was full swing family affair. i really wanted to sleep but found myself engaging in conversation instead.

friday morning is a slight blur. can't really recall what happened. that night was the rehearsal dinner at home. we drank, ate, talked, and an all around great time. it was nice to catch up with peeps from the past. i must say that the bread pudding there was freakin amazing. with every b it i thought i had died and gone to heaven—bread pudding heaven that is. we ended the evening at the cathedral inn hotel bar. that night misty, kate, helen, & i all stayed at the apartment.

lj, the bride to be, & me

saturday was the big day. the morning started off with us loading up misty and kate's car with center pieces, programs, vip badges, etc. d picked me up at 2pm. we grabbed some dim sum for the girls and set off for the hotel to pick up the centerpieces to take them to the great american music hall. we unloaded the car, unpacked the center pieces, set up the came to an end at midnight. not wanting the evening to end a bunch of us headed to a chuppah, and completed various other tasks. we had a slight problem with the two center pieces for the head table. the flowers looked like shit. luckily all the other ones were fine. we did had to do some minor pruning. jojo managed to find to some red flowers at a nearby florist and the center pieces were saved. yeah jojo! by 4pm we headed down to the dressing rooms to get ready. photos were at 4:30 pm. at around 5:30 or so we did a dry run for the ceremony. by 6pm we were back down stairs waiting for the event to begin. i did manage to down a couple of cocktails before the event. not sure why but i was a little nervous. hehe. the ceremony begin at 6:30 pm. everything went flawlessly. the rest of evening was spent eating, drinking, talking, dancing, etc. it was definitely one of the best weddings i've been too. everyone seemed to be having a great time and that's what its all about. i had a dance off with ted's niece. she's about ten or something. idid mange to eat two cup cakes. the strawberry one rocked! the evening officiallykorea bar down the block. we managed to stay there until last call. helen wanted a burrito so of course we stopped to get some before making our way home. we finally got back to misty's at 3:30 am. by 4am the three of us were laying in the bed talking.

the couple

i won't lie, sunday morning was ROUGH! with sunglasses on we headed to the cathedral hotel for brunch. it was nice to see that i want' alone in my misery. after the brunch we returned to misty's as did their families. the rest of the day was spent there. i barely made it to 10pm when the last of guests finally left and i went to sleep. the sofa never felt sooo good.

on monday, i still didn't feel 100%. misty, ted, helen, mimi, and i went to the pork store cafe for breakfast and bloody marys helen and i did a bit of shopping downtown and i even managed to drop my film off for developing. can't wait to see what's on it. dinner was had at cha cha cha's. it ended up being an early night for all of us.

misty, helen, mimi, & ted

misty & ted took off early on tuesday for their honeymoon. helen & i went to the video cafe for her last breakfast in america. i said goodbye to helen around 1:30 pm and spent the rest of the day in a slight a coma. weddings are HARD!

saturday was a picture perfect day here in teh bay area. i received a call from p&b who suggested meeting up at zeitgeist for some sun and cocktails. what a brilliant idea. after a somewhat long bus ride and a short jaunt down the street i was immersed in the biker mayhem that is zeitgeist. b turned me on to having a bloody mary. another brilliant idea. it was like having a salad in a pint glass. what more could one want. 2 bloody marys and i beer later we found ourselves talking about going to the cafe in the stro. you know we must have been semi-buzzed to be considering the cafe. we grabbed some food at pauline's pizza then made our way to the stro. it was still fairly early in the early. the crowd at the cafe was mostly women. i got carded at the door. got to love that. we decided to call it a night after a beer. just want' our thing. the highlight of the evening was this older guys t-shirt that said "real women lick pussy". to top it off he was wearing a dog collar.

sunday was another bright and pretty day in the city. misty & i met up with d down in hayes valley to attend capsule, a designer street fair of sorts. nothing really there overwhelmed me. a majority of the booths had the same stuff just a different design. i was expecting more. the flea market in korea had a lot more originality. but with the bad there were some hidden gems. i managed not to buy anything which was good. i did see a few things here and there. we mainly went there to see willo's stuff. it appeared that she was having a fairly good day selling loads of stuff. kudos to her. lunch was had at flippers where i had a burger with blue cheese and beets. so yummy. the rest of day was spent watching heroes.

the rest of the week has been quite productive. i've converted most of my files for my portfolio. now i just need to edit it down and it will be ready to post. how exciting is that. i'm sure to most of you not but it is for me. misty's wedding is this weekend. i can't believe its here already. time sure does fly. i'm expecting it to be a wild weekend. i'll be sure to take loads of photos. well…thats about it for now.

ask

deery-lou.
first of all let me say thanks to those of you who sent emails, comments, or called in regards to my last blog. didn't mean for it to be such a downer. only trying to keep it real. however, it did feel good to get it all out. and fyi, by saturday i was pretty much back to my old self. my weekend was pretty uneventful. did some running around with misty, ate a ground beef burrito from my favorite taqueria, and looked at an apartment. sadly i found out on tuesday that the apartment was giving to someone else. on the bright side she told me that there might be another apartment opening up and will keep me in mind. keep your fingers crossed. i also discovered that my favorite coffee place makes awesome sandwiches. hi fatty. oh, and i'm now addicted to golden oreos. i realized i can't go into a supermarket without a list. there are just too many things that are screaming my name to purchase them. on my last venture i ended up leaving with the said oreos, tapioca pudding, and ice cream. of course as soon as i got home i wanted to eat all three at once. my plans for the week is to get my portfolio online. that way i'll be ready once i begin the job search. since i've been watching alot of tv at night. yes, i've been staying up super late watching crap. i've found my new favorite show: jon & kate + 8. i'm such a sucker for reality tv. the show is about the gosselins, who have six year-old twins and two year-old sextuplets. i'm really not sure why but i find it highly entertaining. ok, time to get back to my project…

back to the old house

deery-lou.
there are some days when you just don't want to get out of bed. that's how i've felt the last couple of days. it seems my honeymoon period has come to a screeching halt and what i'm left with is reality. a reality for some reason or another i'm not quite ready to face. my motivation for everything has completely faded. i barely feel like leaving the house for my morning coffee. perhaps its the pressure of all the things i need to do: get a job, finding an apartment, etc. i feel somewhat displaced. its strange because when i left for korea 3 years ago i never felt homesick until the last few months i was there. but here its different. i'm homesick for a place that had only been my home for 3 years. you ever imagined that coming hard would be so hard. the other day i felt like taking off for destination unknown. as if running away would solve my problems. i'm sure it would for awhile but then it would appear at my door like an unwanted guest. when i talk to people here the first question is always the same, "what are you going to do now?". and that seems to be where my problem exists. i have no clue. sure i could go back into design but i'm not sure that's where my passion is. i thought about teaching but that requires more schooling and i don't want to do that. i never imagined that i would be at a crossroads at this point in my life. like most people i envisioned i'd be entering my 40s with a job i like, a home to call my own, and a partner to share it all with. i'm 0 for 3. i'm hoping that once i find an apartment i'll be able to pull myself out of this rut i'm in. its a strange feeling not having your own space. its like being caught between the here and after. i've been trying to give myself some sort of routine to keep myself busy. unfortunately its not really working. all i end of doing is watching tv. i guess i should be thankfully that i'm not walking around in my pajamas all day. here's to hoping next week will be better.

I would love to go
Back to the old house
But I never will
I never will ...
I never will ...

bigmouth strikes again

well i made it down to the eagle for folsom; however, i didn't quite make it to the actual fair. oopsie! which also meant i failed to see imperial teen play. sadness. i did manage to pass mr. will from it on the street as i was handing to the eagle. so not all was lost. for those that don't know, the folsom street fair is the grand daddy of the leather events. people from all over literally flock to sf for it. when i worked at on our backs we would have a booth at folsom to help promote the magazine. i definitely have some stories. and have definitely seen some things. although personally i'm not all that into the leather scene, i do love the idea of the fair itself. its so great to see so many people having the freedom to express themselves. plus being able to see so many hot guys in their finest duds doesn't hurt any.

i got to the eagle around 3-something to meet up with the lesbians. it was pretty full but they had already secured a place to stand near the outside bar. it was perfect for people watching which this day is all about. the lesbians left after awhile to walk the fair. i stayed behind to drink more beers. by the time i realized that imperial teen were on stage playing i was trapped. a full beer in hand and a huge line to get into the eagle i figured i'd just skip the show and hang out. by 5 pm the place was packed with half naked bodies. both men and women. here's a glimpse as to what i saw that day:

1. a man dressed in a fuzzy wolf or bear costume [couldn't tell for sure]
2. two guys trying to take a piss in a plastic cup
3. two members of the village people [the indian & the biker]
4. numerous men in chaps
5. some girl on girl action
6. a man in spandex with a hard on
7. a guy sucking beer off of another's cock
8. someone getting spanked
9. girls packing
10. a guy giving a bj while taking it up the ass

now is that an action packed day or what!
